Early Life
There isn't a huge amount to say about Newton's childhood. It is important to mention however, that his mother gave him to his grandparents when he was young. This caused him to become incredibly insecure about himself, and is the cause of why he reacted to criticism so poorly.
In 1661, Newton attended Cambridge university. Here, he became interested in mathematics, optics, physics, and astronomy. In 1665 however, a plague caused the university to close, forcing Newton to return home. During this time Newton began his ideas on calculus, as well as forming his theory of light. Supposedly, during this time Newton had his famous encounter with the apple falling from the tree, inspiring him to focus on gravity.
